E-Coat Resistance
In some automotive assemblies, parts are put through an E-coating (electrocoating) process where a certain portion of the part needs to remain E-coat free. The E-Coat resistant coating insulates the part so that when exposed to an E-coat process, the E-coating will not be able to bond to the protected area with this non stick coating. When we say that we have years of experience solving this type of issue, here is what we mean. In 1984 we helped resolve an E-coat related issue, on door pin parts that go to Ford. Our coating resolution, quality, and delivery has allowed us to continue coating this particular program for over 24 years.
This process has been utilized with metal coaters in the automotive industry as one of the non stick coatings for E-Coat resistant needs.
From low volume to high volume, DECC’s engineering staff can design a fixturing that allows E-coat resistance coating to be applied to the critical areas of your part, while masking other areas that need to be E-coated. If your part has to go on to an additional assembly that will also require E-coating, this E-coat resistance coating could be the answer to your challenge. When in doubt, please allow our engineering staff to assist you in your challenge. Coupled with our R&D team, we have successfully resolved coating related issues for years. We can typically have feedback to you within 24 hours or less.
