Emission Reduction

The very nature of the industrial coatings industry is that many of the coatings contain high amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) - in many cases over six pounds per gallon. These emissions are regulated by the state as a precursor to ground level ozone smog. To remain in compliance as the business has expanded, the DECC Company purchased a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to destroy VOC’s generated by our mass production processes. As a result, plant wide emissions were reduced from a potential of almost 46 tons to actual emissions of fewer than 4 tons.

That's an emission reduction of over 90% while continuing to grow sales!

The RTO enables DECC to remain environmentally compliant even in the current climate of increasing regulations relating to air pollution and public health.

Remanufacturing

The DECC Company takes pride in the fact that over 30% of its core business involves remanufactured parts.Reduce Reuse Recycle The environmental impact of remanufacturing parts instead of forging them brand new goes a long way towards the preservation of natural resources. When it comes to reducing, reusing, and recycling, we take it seriously. Our application of coating on remanufactured parts not only solves a problem but also allows the customer to reuse thier parts which in turn saves them money. In some cases, the manufacturer saved 40% - 60% versus buying new.

We realize that when we apply our coating to remanufactured parts that they will last longer and run more efficiently. It is comforting to know that every used part that we apply coating to means there is one less part that ends up in a landfill where rainwater washes the oils and greases into the earth. It means one less hunk of metal is mined from the earth because new parts aren't required.

Review of Incoming Chemicals

The DECC Company is committed to reviewing all incoming chemicals as part of our commitment to protecting our employees and the environment.

Prior to any new sample or production coatings entering our plant, the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for that chemical is reviewed by our Environmental Engineer to determine the impact on employee safety and environmental regulations. If for any reason it is determined that the coating is noncompliant, we will not allow it into our company. This is a commitment we have made and will uphold, despite the fact it could mean passing on a new opportunity for additional business.
