PROBLEM SOLVING

Problems We Solve With Coatings

The Decc Company specializes in developing and applying custom engineered coatings that improve part and component performance while eliminating expensive redesign. In many cases, Decc can work with your engineers to integrate a coating solution at the product design stage. In applications where an operational problem occurs in an existing design, Decc can troubleshoot for you and provide a solution.

Our service is completed by providing the best-suited coating, application technology, and post-application analysis to confirm performance. This includes the ability to apply controlled thickness coatings —from as low as 0.0002 in.—to preserve the dimensional integrity of parts.

Adhesive

Decc applies adhesive coatings to a variety of substrates
which allow for the bonding of two different materials
during molding operations. Our rubber to metal adhesive
coatings are example of this.

Adhesive coatings designed for rubber to metal bonding
(in-mold of post-vulcanization) are beneficial for suspension
systems, engine mounts, and other applications requiring
shock absorption and sound deadening.

A variety of adhesive chemistries exists that allow us
to coat numerous other types of substrates where bond
strength and pushout testing are also required.
Corrosion Protection

Decc utilizes both barrier and sacrificial types of
engineered coatings which fuse to the metal substrate
in order to provide added protection against salt,
chemical, and high temperature corrosive environments.

Barrier coatings provide a consistent film that prevents
external elements from penetrating to the substrate.

Sacrificial coatings contain certain elements, such as
aluminum or zinc, which oxidize sacrificially to ensure that
the substrate remains corrosion free.

The salt spray resistant coatings, some of which meet up
to 1000 hours of resistance, can also prevent galvanic
corrosion when dissimilar metals are in contact with each
other.
Decorative/Cosmetic

In addition to finishes which are designed for functionality,
Decc also applies decorative coatings and cosmetic
coatings that serve an aesthetic purpose.

Fasteners such as beauty bolts and other external
components benefit form their UV resistant properties.

Improved identification of similar looking items can be
achieved through color coding.

Colors and gloss level choices are available upon request.
Dry Film Lubricants

The application of dry film lubricants offers design
versatility when traditional lubrication is not feasible. The
benefits of following engineered coatings offer a reduced
coefficient of friction and the elimination or reduction of
noise:
  • Abrasion resistant coatings
  • Chemical resistant coatings
  • E-Coat resistant coatings
  • Non stick coatings
  • Noise reducing coatings
  • Release coatings
  • Squeak elimination coatings (NVH & BSR)
  • Temperature resistant coatings
  • Wear resistant coatings
Many of these FDA approved coatings include
such fluoropolymers as PTFE, FEP, PFA, and PPS
suspended in a high performance resin.

We also apply coatings rich with MOS2 (molydisulfide) and
graphite, where transferring of lubricant to mating parts is
desirable for optimal results.

Several dry film lubricants also are known to behave well
in corrosive, chemical, and extreme temperature
environments.
