Inspection tests include the following: |
Adhesion / Cross Hatch A test method by which the bond between the coating and the substrate are checked. Decc performs 4 different types of this test:

Attribute Gauging A Test method by which coating thickness is checked to validate that the coating is not too thick to cause fit issues. The types of Gauges include:
![]() |
Coating Thickness A test method where the actual coating thickness is measured to ensure that the thickness falls within the tolerances to the part specifications. Decc performs this test using a Fischerscope and a Beta backscatter. |
![]() |
Conductivity A test method to validate properly activated and cured Sermagard coating via Ohms resistance. Sermagard is a licensed coating that cures at 650 F. The coating must be properly activated via blasting of glass media to bring the sacrificial aluminum to the surface of the coating. |

Cure Testing A test method where the coating is evaluated to ensure that it has been properly cured. This is done via chemical rub on the surface of the coating. 2 test methods currently used are MEK and Water (which is strictly used on Sermagard coating). |
