Why coat an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system?
Engine exhaust contains sulfur oxides, nitrate oxides, and particulate matter. When these re-enter the system the sulfuric acids and nitric acids corrode the exhaust system which is typically made of cast iron or aluminum alloys. This results in rust or other corrosion inside, reducing the efficiency of the exhaust system. The corroded particulates can flake or break off and cause damage to other parts of the engine system which can lead to overheating of the engine and reduced efficiency.
By applying a corrosion resistant coating to your EGR system you can extend the life of your parts, and help your engine to run at its peak performance level.
What coating solutions can we apply?
Our high temperature resistant coatings (phenolic resin coatings) are able to provide and maintain structural integrity and stability to the substrate. They protect the substrate from corrosion due to exposure from harsh chemicals such as gas, oil, brake fluid, and some acids and bases. Phenolic resin coatings are great for demanding applications associated with friction, foundry, and aerospace applications. They are used in automotive brake systems, hydraulic water pump housings, natural gas valves, pulley systems, and clutch systems.
New EPA regulations require near zero emissions. Instead of adding weight to your vehicle with after treatment systems and urea, apply coatings to eliminate the cause of the formation of damaging corrosion materials.
