What is Dip-Spin Coating?
Dip-spin is a bulk application coating process. Parts are placed into baskets and immersed in a coating. The basket is then raised from the vat and spun at a high RPM, which removes any excess coating with centrifugal force. The parts are then cured, and the process is repeated as needed, depending on the coating recipe or thickness requirements.

Coating Process
DECC’s process for dip-spin application starts with in-house surface preparation, where we can either pre-bake the parts, then surface blast, or just run through our zinc phosphate wash. After the surface has been prepped, they are put into wire baskets and run through the dip-spin coating machine. Once the parts have been coated, they are then placed into a curing oven to set the coating. The parts are then sent to packing, where they are packed up and ready to be shipped.
Common solutions for dip-spin coating are zinc flake and PTFE; however, there is a wide range of solutions for which this coating application can be used.

When To Use Dip Spin
Dip-spin is ideal for a vast majority of small to mid-sized fasteners or hardware and for numerous metal stamping geometries. For larger parts, the ideal coating application is rack spray, allowing parts to be coated more effectively and at a lower cost.
